Tejaswini Kolhapure

The resemblence to Padmini Kolhapure is striking. It's all in the genes. This 5 feet 7 inches tall pretty young thing is fast emerging as the new generation actress. Tejaswini Kolhapure aka Teju is the heir apparent to Maharastrian actresses in Bollywood.

For far too long Tejaswini has been known as Padmini Kolhapure's kid sister. But times are changing. From representing her college in high jump at the state level, doing travel and tourism, to modelling, Tejaswini has done it all. Acting was the next obvious step. She feels modelling was fun but after a while it got boring. Walking the ramp was just too mechanical for her and felt she was wasting her time. She wanted to do something substantial; she wanted to act. She spoke to her brother-in-law Tutu Sharma. He gave her the green signal.

Her wish was fulfilled. Satish Kaushik spotted her at a Filmfare Awards Function and asked her if she would be interested in doing the TV serial, Mujhe Chaand Chahiye. And she found her calling. To hone her talent further she started doing theatre. Among the notable plays she's done are Satyadev Dubey's Magic Pill and Makrand Despande's Sabse Bada Thief.

At the moment, Tejaswini is quite excited about her first release Paanch directed by Anurag Kashyap. Paanch is about a band of musicians - four boys and a girl - who are trying to make good music. They aren't doing well and this leads to frustration, taking them to a point of no return. She is not at all worried that her first film is not a regular romantic flick. She is more inclined towards serious acting and even her serial Mujhe... was different from the conventional TV serials.

Tejaswini dubbed for Kirti Reddy in Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya but has no plans of continuing with the same.Hope you make it big one day...best of luck!
